Slate Auto is a U.S.-based electric vehicle startup founded in 2022 in Troy, Michigan, with financial backing from Jeff Bezos. Unlike traditional EV makers like Tesla or Rivian, Slate Auto focuses on simplicity, modularity, and affordability, redefining the electric truck market.

The first model from Slate Auto is the Blank Slate, a minimalist, two-seat electric pickup truck designed with practicality and cost-effectiveness in mind.

  • Powertrain: Single electric motor, 201 hp and 195 lb-ft torque, rear-wheel drive

    • 52.7 kWh for ~150 miles (240 km) range

    • 84.3 kWh for ~240 miles (386 km) range

  • Charging Connector: NACS (compatible with Tesla Superchargers)

  • Interior: No built-in infotainment system; mounts provided for smartphones and tablets

  • Exterior: Unpainted gray finish; customizable with affordable wraps
